End of Year Countdown

We are ALMOST there... only 10 more days of e-learning!  Surprised Henry with a balloon countdown today!  He gets to pop one a balloon a day with a surprise activity in the balloon... today was Reading Picnic! 

One and Only Ivan Dinner Party

As a teacher, one of my favorite activities to do with my classroom once we finished a read-aloud was to "celebrate" with a character dinner party! Figured given we are e-learning at home, we would have our own One and Only Ivan character dinner party after reading it & compare it to the movie. Although the movie was cute... we ALL agreed the book was SO much better!

We adopted our own Gorilla in honor of Ivan! 

Can't wait to read the next part!

YAY!! I finished my last grad. class... one more step to a Libriarian!

This is the smile of someone who just completed her last Grad. Class!  This book nerd is closer to being an "Official Book Nerd"... one last step is taking the Big Test this summer and then I will have another certification as a Library Media Specialist!!

Geocaching in Joliet

Such a fun day learning all about the history of Joliet!  We went to the old Iron Mill, Old Prison, Donuts, Abraham Lincoln Cemetery, and Midewin National Prairie Grass Reserve! So many cool history lessons in this town that I never realized!

Outdoor Math Classroom

Taking a break from the Chromebooks to get outside and practice our measuring & graphing skills at the forest preserve! Definitely ready for more days like today! 

Boxcar Children

My very first memory as a reader, was LOVING the Boxcar Children!  Figured it was time to introduce Henry to one of my very favorite books!  While reading this together, I decided to make him his very own boxcar! :)

E-learning is finished by noon everyday, so that leaves time for "mom school".  What better way to practice chemical change then in the Kitchen!

Happy Lunar New Year!!

Happy Lunar New Year!!  This was the 3rd year I have been teaching for VIPKid during their Spring Festival... such an exciting time!  I am fascinated by their traditions and culture, as well as learning more every year!  Today, Henry and I made it a day of decorating, making dumplings, watching their Spring Gala, as well as learning fun facts!  

These are the days I don't mind having him home all day!  

One of my students told me today that I can't clean... otherwise I would wash away my good fortune for the year.  I definitely followed through with that!!
